GraPESTE

hahaha, yeah we are graffiti writers and part its game are putting your art in streets.. and in illegal way. thats part of the game.. yeah cguro di mu kami maiintindihan, pero at the same time di ka din namin maintindihan.. yeah thats the real thing in art.. some appreciate it and some will hate it.. this is art of different kind of culture and we choose spray paints as a medium to express our own idea and show our talents.. at yun ang kulang mu.. you don't see things as positive but more on negative at pessimistic approach.. may kanya kanya tayong identity or pag kakaiba mahirap naman na ang lahat ng tao ay parepareho aat iisa lang ang masusnod..pangit naman yun, aat mawawalan ng kulay ang mundo.. at sa panahon na more and more young generation are getting involve in writing, they are putting the the Philippines in the Map of graffiti culture and even represents our country in other part of the world.. in that way may nagawa kami para makilala ang Pilipinas hindi sa pag gawa ng ilegal but the art it self at and pagiging pinoy grapista.

its nice thing that you are brave enough to express your thoughts about graffiti, but of course we tend to disagree with some of your statements regarding the topic.

We all cannot say that graffiti is getting into the mainstream, because it has remained in the underground since the 80's as you've stated. Although recognition is present. Now about the "grapista" here are "gaya gaya" with graffiti writers in the US, we get our influences there and from writers around the world. We have to recognize the roots of what we are dedicated to do and proud of it.

We have to respect your perception about graffiti (being a menace to society), but not all people think the same, right? We are proud of our masterpiece that we share that to the people who appreciates its beauty (well, not for you. duh!). About the words of wisdom thing, do you know what that means? Its not about the words stated, its what you to to make the society better, not to teach them hate or the term "pakshet". Your blog is sort of the same with your perception about graffiti. "Wala kang makikita kundi makasariling pagpapahayag ng pangalan nila." (Sorry, I have to quote your statement to emphasize my point.)

Now, about the aerosol can thing, before you write something about facts, you have to research first. 200PHP is way off the target. Wasting money for paint and other materials is normal when it comes to artists doing their artworks (you know that!). Art doesn't limit itself into a canvas or anything that is displayed in galleries. Thats a dumb statement you got there. You don't know anything about "true art". And furthermore, the ability of an artist, if he/she is good or not, is not equal to how realistic his/her works are, but how he/she truly express anything
and everything into his/her craft. We are all selfish (yes, including you).

About that documentary thing, if you were paying attention, they had two sides presented, the side of the graffiti writers and the side of the people that are trying to stop graffiti. And textmates?! Are you kidding me?! We are not that desperate. We have fruitful relationships with our loved ones, friends, family, etc. Are you sure the last lines are not pertaining to you and what you wish for? I think you're craving for that. Graffiti writers are not as low as you... We achieve what we want, and where will you be?

yeah, karamihan naman sa mga writers an toh ay mga nakapag aral and they are on their own careers.. they only choose this kind of culture because this is what they want.. and they know that they will be more productive and stay in positive lane.. kesa getting involve in many bad influences like drug addiction, getting in gangs that we know the no good things will brought it for you, masamanag barkada na influence na gumawa ng masama, or might kill someone as part of getting up.. here in graffiti more on expression at socialization..people are getting challenged to create a new style and make his/her own identity.. so in this case mas nagiging positive and out come at di major negative.. saka etong bombing na toh, some people don't really bomb the hard core way.. although nagawa nila yun as part of the game, di naman gaun ka dalas.. some chooses to bomb every night, other day.. some are occasional.. and some just simply quit and focus in styles.. so vandalism is part of the game since di namin nakikita nag sarili naman na doing illegal things but challenge to get up..cguro di mo kami mauunawaan or maiintindihan kung mananatilikang supernative but for those really understand us.. big cheers.. i know your enjoying your life in earth..

Sup man, Flip-1 of SBA CRU writing.

If I-Witness can do a documentary about a 30 years man stuck in the 1980s culture, doesn't The Correspondants have the right to make one about the graffiti art scene in Metro Manila?

And if you're saying that all grapeste are messed-up people, think again Wawel. I'm a HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER, and I'm also proud to say that I'm a member of SBA Graffiti Cru. And you? Just a nonsense emo-blogger here on the net. You sure you can make money out of it? Haha Poor boy.
